We bought this in 2004 with the birth of our first girl. Worked great, holds a ton of diapers, no smell. I have to say in reading the other reviews for people that hate theirs... maybe it's a problem with your specific unit and you should return it and try a new one. Ours works really great even now that our second girl is 21 months old! There is a little odor now, but for how much use it gets and how old it is, it's a pretty incredible, decorative and handy little disposal system! We will probably get a new one for the next baby.
